I recently got to try the UGLee ergonomic pen. They are what they say! They’re not the prettiest, but they feel amazing when writing, especially when you write a lot. I’ve used mine for everything; work, grocery lists, doodling, you name it. I gave one to a waitress friend of mine and its the only one she uses! The grips are a little “stickier” so you can’t really roll your fingers around it, but it does stay in place, and the squishy comfort grips never really dig into your fingers.

From their website:

The UGLee Pen is good for everyone who writes (even just a grocery list), and is especially helpful to people who experience pain and discomfort when writing, for example those with arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc., and for all children who are learning to write and are developing fine motor skills. It is also helpful for special-needs children who find holding a pen or pencil properly difficult. And for high-school and college students who have to take copious notes, this pen helps keep hands and fingers from cramping.

If you want they’re giving me some to give away to you to use too! Just leave a comment below for each item and ill choose a winner on Sunday Feb 16th at noon!

Second Life Book Review

iagomega

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

20140113-012124.jpg
About the book from the author

After helping friend Kelsey flee the country in Life First, Susan Harper is being held captive by the government in the thrilling sequel, Second Life. As the normally feisty Susan’s hopes of freedom dwindle, a mysterious stranger sneaks into her room and promises to help her.

Susan and mystery man Rob grow close as he tries to orchestrate her escape. When the duo discovers the truth behind Susan’s captivity, they realize she is in grave danger, and they must act quickly. Susan and Rob will need more than passion for each other and their wits to succeed. They will need help from old friends, including Kelsey.

Susan gave Kelsey a chance at a second life, but will she get her own?

Second Life is the second book in the series, the first being Life First. Fortunately you don’t have to read the first book to follow along. The author follows up with the important bits, without making you bored if you’ve read the first one. The first book is more about Susan’s best friend, Kelsey, and Luke’s story. The second book is more about Susan and her side of the story. But there are chapters of Kelsey’s life now as well, and how their paths may or may not cross.

The chapters are short and a relatively easy read. You can read a chapter at a time if you want, or a few. It’s good for any reading level, or time constraint or just for fun.

It’s a believable story set sometime in the undetermined future, in which the US, recovering from a pandemic, has set up a new order. One in which they believe Life comes First, and if you are a match for anyone in the country, it is your duty to provide, whether you like or agree with it or not. Except for Peoria, formerly known as Florida. That is where those who don’t agree with the new rules go to escape and are granted asylum.

I don’t want to reveal too much, if you’re interested in reading the first book first, but again not necessary. But in this book we’re taken on Susan’s wild ride continuing from the first. At first no one is sure where she’s gone, not even her. And the new people and the ones from her past who try to save her, both from where she is and from herself. I’m not normally a big fan of this type of fiction, but it’s a pretty believable story, to a fault.

If you’re looking for something to pass a little bit of time, or just want something new in your repertoire, I think this is a solid choice. Easily 5 out of 5 stars!

iCaughtSanta.com review

iagomega

So I’ve stumbled upon a new website, perfect for the Holidays! iCaughtSanta.com lets you take a picture and add Santa and/or Rudolph too to it. The best part/ You submit the picture, of your own house!

My photo’s not the greatest quality as I was just playing around with it, but you can see, that this is my tree, in my living room, and Santa is there with his sack full of presents!

You can choose, from Santa sitting or taking a nap on your couch, pulling up outside your house, and even coming down the chimney!! How much fun would it be for your kids to wake up to see a picture that you managed to get of Santa! Or if they’re having issues behaving or not believing, maybe him creeping through the front yard, might make them shape up ;)

Want to get your own? Use the free code: SantaShare . Get one for free that you can post to your social media, download on the spot or share via email! This code is only good until Dec 10th 2013, so go get a few photos and try it out!

They also offer other characters such as the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy for when those moments arise ;)

Good Cook 4 Mini Loaf Pan – GIVEAWAY

iagomega

I got the awesome package below a few weeks ago, and have been having way too much fun using it! I only have one glass bread pan, and I’m not a fan of bread in glass, so getting this was a God-send!

20131204-171309.jpg

I decided that since I had a bunch of pumpkin in my freezer, pumpkin bread was the perfect thing to try out on this!

Pumpkin Bread:

Mix Together:
3 cup Sugar
4 beaten eggs
1 cup Oil (or cinnamon applesauce)
2 cup (1 can) Pumpkin

Add:
3 1/2 cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice
2/3 cup water
1 tsp nutmeg (optional if you like nutmeg or not-I did it without this step though and it turned out fine)
Chopped walnuts or pecans or raisins are optional.

Mix well and pour into sprayed pan half inch from the top. (No need to flour!) This bread won’t rise too much, so you can fill it a little fuller.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Do the toothpick test, if it comes out clean, then it’s good to go.
Flip out of the pan and let cool.

20131204-173909.jpg

I made my first batch about 2 weeks ago and put the loaves in a ziplock bag. They are still super moist!!! I couldn’t believe it!

Extras!

So you want to get your own nonstick
4 cup loaf pan
? It really is non stick and cleans up so quick! I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 stars!

You can get 25% off using coupon code: SWEETLOAF

And you know what’s even better?! Good Cook is allowing me to give away a pan and pack of parchment paper to one of my readers! Use the rafflecopter link below or enter on my Facebook page!

Give away will end December 20th at midnight. Pans will not be sent until the new year though just an FYI.

iagomega

20131203-232632.jpg

Get your butts out and grab you a moneymaker on the movie Epic for your kids (or yourself, no shame) just in time for Christmas! I know this works at Target, not sure about other stores (let me know if you’ve been able to get it elsewhere).

Amazon currently has the movie listed for $7.48. There is also a $5 off coupon at Coupons.com. Meaning you’ll only pay $2.48! There is also a $3 mail in rebate meaning you’ll make $.52!!!! Not a bad deal if I say so myself! Be prepared a current Target coupon policy if you can!

Have you snagged this yet? Or were you able to get it anywhere else other than Target?

Pumpkin Purée

iagomega

So those that know me, know I live for Halloween. Sadly with losing my job and family what nots, I didn’t even decorate!! Sad I know! But hubby did surprise me by buying me a ginormous pumpkin! I have heard rumors that you can make you’re own pumpkin purée from said pumpkins even! Ok I knew you could do it but in all my life I’ve never actually learned how! Thankfully my mother-in-law was more than willing to help me learn.

1. Cut the pumpkin in half.
2. Scoop out all the insides, and put in a strainer for now. You’ll use this later

3. Cut into smaller slivers, and then cut those into smaller sections.
4. Peel the outside shell off. (I found it easier to peel the smaller sections, but if you want to rock the bigger ones, have at it)
5. Put the smaller pieces in a pot, once full put some water and then put it on the stove to boil. (I’d use multiple pots for this, it makes it go a little faster)

6. Once the pumpkin is easily cut with a spoon, and getting mushy, take it off the stove and drain as much of the water as you can.
7. Blend the pumpkin until its a nice consistency.
8. At this point it’s better to dump it in a cake pan so it can cool easier and you can use the pot if need be.

Once it’s cool, just divide it into ziplock freezer bags, 2 cups per bag. Then lay flat and store in the freezer and boom! No more buying pumpkin in a can!

And now for the strainer full of deliciousness. Preheat the oven to 350. Wash and rinse the seeds. Pull out all the stringy parts and throw away. We just want good seeds. Once clean shake off as much water as you can. Spray a cookie sheet, preferably with a butter based spray, it makes it better. Spread a handful seeds out making sure none are overlapping. I found a seasoning salt to be the best to sprinkle of all the seeds. Adding a little garlic powder to that works well too. Or just use plain salt. Bake for about 10-15 minutes until they start to just turn golden brown on the edges.

Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation

iagomega

20131123-223225.jpg Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation hits stores
this month! All in all, it’s a great liquid foundation, I’m
normally a half powder/half liquid girl. But it’s super lightweight
and it spreads great! I love the way it feels too. It’s not heavy,
not greasy, smooth; it’s hard to describe, but it’s just a great
feeling foundation! The only issue is that I have crazy combination
skin. It doesn’t stay matte all day. About halfway through my work
day, the shine on my forehead starts to come through. I mean, the
foundation does stay pretty much all day, just
I get a little shiny. So I’d probably give it 4 out of 5. I’m super
excited for it to be out, and I might seriously be switching to
this one, since it lasts a little longer than my current one.

Dr. Scholl’s for her Cozy Cushions Review

iagomega

20131117-141748.jpg

I received the Rose Vox Box (above) from Influenster this week, and have been trying out all the free goodies they’ve given me to sample and review :) I’ve gotten Dr Scholl’s before, including the ones for heels (which are pretty awesome arguably) and was super excited to try these out in some boots!

20131117-141802.jpg

I thought these would be great for the super cold week we’ve had in Ohio this week. They’re fuzzy and definitely warm! Almost too warm for me, but I wear flip flops all year long as long as there isn’t snow. My feet are always hot, but these weren’t too bad thankfully! And they offer great support in boots with a little heel. The only negative thing I have with these, is their height. They’re a little too thick to wear in cute boots (see below). It made it really tight on my foot. So these sadly wont be a cute boot staple, but when it snows? You better believe these are going in the snow boots! I think they’ll do better in that anyways so I can be all toasty and warm while going snow tubing :)
